Trunk Keeps Open on Volkswagen Cc Easy

  • #1

Someone please help...for the last few weeks my trunk lid has been opening by itself. When I leave for work I'll notice my trunk lid open..This has happened at home and at work or at a restaurant.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the tips! I'll try that lord knows I got plenty of wd40 out in the garage ;)

I will keep an eye on the display indicator as well.. I've seen it show the trunk open before when either I or my daughters didn't close it all the way.. So I've seen it at least sense it being partially open before but this time if it was as you said maybe it was closed enough to turn indicator off but the something else wasn't 100% for it to KEEP the trunk closed.

E.
If it happens again however it will be the dealers issue to fix since it's only got 57 miles on it :)

TDITimber, I just went through this issue myself on my 06.5 Jetta. My issue was not only the latch but also the front drivers door module. I will be doing a write up soon on my experience, as I have not seen this exact scenario posted on TDIClub. The 1st symptom was teh trunk popping randomly and I discovered as long as the doors were locked, it wouldnt pop. Soon after, the indicator on the dash showed the trunk open eventhough it was closed, and I could not open the trunk and the battery was draining down every 2-3 days. After replacing the latch, the initial popping symptom came back and the battery drain continued. The dealer tracked down a failure with the front door module which I replaced last night and so far no issues. Unfortunately I had to buy the window motor that the module is attached to as well, $250. My theory is that the bad module actually caused the truck latch to fail but maybe it was just coencidence. I found the best price at thevwpartsstore.com
The part number for the module/motor is 1KO-959-701-AE-Z0A

Thanks for the info. My case is similar. However I do not have the battery drain and I don't show the trunk open when its not. My trunk opens by itself at random times. It does NOT open when the car is locked. Only when its unlocked.

I had this issue last year after buying my 06 used but with warranty left. I would find the trunk lid open nearly every morning. Sometimes it would happen when standing by the car. I could hear the actuator motor triggering the lid.
The dealer ended up replacing the latch mechanism which has worked. It took several visits to get them to do that. Fortunately for me the trunk popped open for them while they were watching it. They thought I was crazy until they saw it for themselves.

Do you happen to have a part number?
Thanks for your help. this is driving me crazy.

Yesterday I replaced the trunk latch. This morning I noticed that my trunk was open, so I would guess that this was NOT the cause. Any other suggestions????

I just had this experience. In my case, as above, it was the module in the window motor. The dealership originally thought it was the wiring harness to the driver's side door, but it turned out mine wasn't worn at all. They replaced the window motor module a couple days ago, and so far so good. Good luck!

Can you give me a part number for what to replace? Thanks

I'm not having any luck with your part number. Are you sure that it is correct?
Was it hard to replace?
Thanks

Hello, the part number listed on the invoice I have is:
1KO-959-701-AE-Z0A Motor. At least, I think that is the part number. The invoice says "Diagnosed and replaced faulty left front window motor with control unit". Hope this helps, good luck!

Someone please help.
I've already replaced the trunk latch...my trunk lid still pops open on its own.
My question is...if I replace the window module will this fix it? What else could it be?
I just don't want to keep spending money and have it not fixed.
Thanks
